Summary

In Chapter 30, set July 27, 2021, when Jerome calls Barbara from New York to tell her that he is staying with his editor over the weekend, she finally tells him about the poetry contest. Once Jerome has gotten over his excitement and has congratulated her, she asks him to tell her about the case of the missing boy again since she was only half listening before.

In Chapter 31, set July 2, 2021, as soon as Bonnie wakes, she knows she is a prisoner. Bonnie notices she is wearing only one earring and tucks it under the futon mattress because it has sharp edges and might come in handy. Roddy brings down the raw liver. He does not answer any of Bonnie’s questions.
