Summary
Chapter 35 is subtitled “Coming Up For Air (the song of a humpback whale).” These lyrics explain that all of the oceans’ creatures are connected, hearing the Ocean’s voice. The splash of a minnow, magnified by many, is the same as the spray of the humpback whale’s breach. The creatures of the ocean follow their own map, past Man’s “great garbage patch” (292). They will survive as long as they remember to “always come up for air” (292).
Chapter 36 is subtitled “Nomadic Wanderings Across Washington State, USA (Sho’lee`tsah, female wolf of nomadic blended wolf pack).” Sho’lee`tsah and the wolves have gathered after their failed battle for the crows’ territory.
