Summary
In Jack’s section, when he picks Libby up for their trip to Bloomington, he notices her beauty and grace. She gives him a copy of the book We Have Always Lived in the Castle as a birthday gift. She explains that the main character reminds her of herself, and she thought perhaps Jack would relate to it as well. Jack senses an electric current in the air.
Libby tunes the radio to a disco song and holds Jack’s hand when he tries to change it. Before he knows it, he is dancing along with Libby and singing the song. They smile at each other and Libby reminds Jack that whatever they find out, it does not change anything.
In Libby’s section, Libby knows that she is having a moment with Jack. She hopes that he feels it too.
