Chapter 9 Summary
Ford and Arthur are not sure where they are when they come to. At first it looks like the sea front at Southend, in England. But it seems to them the universe is undulating, and a man with five heads and an elderberry bush full of kippers passes by, so they are pretty sure they are not actually in Southend. After hearing several measurements of probability from an unidentifiable voice and noticing bulges in the fabric of space-time, Ford realizes what is causing the odd effects around them. The have been picked up by a ship powered by the Infinite Improbability Drive. The voice tells them they have been picked up by the Heart of Gold, and Arthur informs Ford that an infinite number of monkeys are trying to get into their cubicle to talk to them about a script for Hamlet they've...
