The armaments race continues, the secret of atomic power formerly monopolized by the US. War persists in Greece; Ho Chi Minh rejects armistice terms offered by the French for Viet Nam; a massacre takes place at a Sicily demonstration of peasants; a new non-Communist government forms in Italy, headed by DeGasperi.
