Summary

In Chapter 9, Afi tells Eli she is pregnant after he returns from a business trip. They are both happy. Afi and the Ganyo’s think their baby will loosen Muna’s hold on Eli.

Afi finds out her baby is a boy. Feeling secure in her role as wife, she asks Eli when she will be moved into his home. He does not say.

She goes to Evelyn’s, and tells her she wants to leave to Ho until Eli will move her into the house. Evelyn dissuades her, advising her to just enjoy her life. Afi says she cannot.

Afi appears at her mother’s house in Ho. Her mother is very upset with her, tells her to go back to Accra.
