Book Five, Trial and Error: Chapters 101-113 Summary
In chapter 101, Jennie comes to visit her mother and convinces her that Will never touched her. Not only this, Jennie convinces Maggie to allow her to testify on her behalf.
In chapter 102, Norma Breen speaks to the groundskeeper at the club and tries to convince him to tell her about the members of the after hours group. In chapter 103, Norma and the groundskeeper go into the area of the club where the afterhours group meets. The groundskeeper finally breaks down and gives Norma a list of the members of that club.
In chapter 104, Jennie testifies and it goes well until the prosecutor cross-examines her. The prosecutor forces Jennie to admit that she had a crush on Will and wanted to seduce him. However, Jennie insists nothing ever happened.
