Book Three, Will: Chapters 44-53 Summary
In chapter forty-four, Palmer comes to Will's room in Rio and sees the dead girl in the bathroom. In chapter forty-five, Will is in New York after spending some time in a mental hospital, undergoing what the press believes to be substance abuse therapy. Palmer has encouraged this move in his deal with Will that also includes yearly blackmail payments.
In chapter forty-six, Maggie has become a recluse in the time since Patrick's death, so she is surprised when Nathan Bailford, Patrick's attorney, comes to visit. Nathan is there to explain to Maggie the details of Patrick's will. Patrick has left Maggie, Jennie, and Allie the majority of his estate instead of leaving it to his difficult son, Peter.
