Colorado
Colorado is where the Galvin family lives for the vast majority of the book. Other than a few brief intermittent years in the 1940s and 1950s, Don and Mimi Galvin lived in Colorado for their entire marriage. The outdoor features of the state became a part of their family life, particularly as they pursued their main hobby: falconry. While some of the Galvin children move away from Colorado as adults, the majority continue to live in that state. Lindsay, who moved away to Connecticut for boarding school as a teenager and who never wanted to return home, found herself being pulled back to her home state, drawn in by its landscape and natural wonders.
