Point of View
Hey Kiddo is a graphic memoir, told in the first person by the author Jarrett J. Krosoczka. The memoir begins with the prologue at the cemetery, while Jarrett is a teenager. It then travels back in time in Chapter 1 to before Jarrett is born when his grandparents meet, get married, and give birth to his mother. Chapter 2 tells the story of Jarrett’s childhood with his mother, some of which he remembered and some of which was told to him. Through Jarrett’s point of view and the corresponding artwork, the reader sees the people around him grow older. The memoir ends with Jarrett graduating from high school, and a card from his grandparents and a letter from his mother.
