Summary
Chapter 2: Life with Leslie, starts on the title page with an image of Jarrett and his mother holding him. The image says “Baby’s Health Record” and below this Jarrett’s full name. On top of the record is a snowman ornament. The chapter starts with very dark colors - black and light gray as Jarrett explains how he and his mother lived alone in a house his grandfather bought for them. Krosoczka draws the song lyrics to “Even Though We Ain’t Got Money” through pages 44 and 45. He draws Leslie rocking Jarrett and putting him to sleep as an infant.
The next pages brighten significantly as Jarrett is a toddler. He and his mother are very close and he describes his memories of his early childhood, including toys and meals. He also remembers strange men coming in and out of...
