Pages 248-295 Summary
Waff paces silently behind Odrade and Sheeana in the spice-storage yard at Dar-es-Balat. Odrade considers that Taraza may be right about the Tleilaxu using the ghola system to prolong personal memories. Waff calls Sheeana "Al-Yama," "Blessed One" in an ancient language. They step out onto the faery causeway over the moat, with Waff 20 paces in the lead. Sheeana smells Shaitan nearby and races ahead a kilometer, saying they must hurry. As Odrade and Waff recuperate from the run, Sheeana begins her dance on the sand. The sound of 'thopters overhead is drowned out by a hiss below that grows into a roar. A gigantic, crystal-ringed mouth emerges, crests the dune and dips toward Sheeana. heeana resumes her dance and the worm curls up beside her. Odrade cannot tear her eyes away from the "cave of mysterious fire" burning within the worm...
