Ben’s apartment
Since Ben has not left for college, he has continued living in his childhood home. Because so many of his friends have left home for college, Ben feels trapped. This feeling trapped extends out form his family home and into the rest of Manhattan. Ben’s family apartment is a modest one. Arthur is comfortable in Ben’s home, but Ben is immediately comfortable with Mario being in his home since they are on a comparable level economically. For much of the novel, Ben craves space. However, as the novel wraps up, Ben appreciates how close he is with his family, thanks in part to their close shared space.
Arthur’s apartment
