Summary

Chapter 16 is from Arthur’s perspective and takes place on Saturday, May 30th. Arthur and Mikey are loading the dishwasher, now waiting for Ben, Dylan, and Mario to come over. Arthur offers to cancel but Mikey rejects the offer. They still have not talked about Mikey’s declaration of love. Jessie leaves to hang out with Samantha and Arthur reminisces about how his summer with Ben felt so emotionally intense, but he cannot access those emotions anymore. When the group shows up, Dylan acts overly-familiar with Mikey, and Mikey does not know how to respond. Ben and Arthur end up in the kitchen, mixing drinks. Arthur does not usually drink, but he wants to show Ben that he has grown. They start drinking. Dylan complains about Samantha’s best friend, Patrick. Ben goes downstairs to let Mario in, and to get away...
