Summary

Chapter 4 is from Arthur’s perspective, also taking place on Sunday, May 17th. Arthur feels unfit to live alone and is glad his friend Jessie is going to spend the summer living with him. He gets a call from Mikey. Arthur feels sad that he’s not there with Mikey. Mikey tells Arthur that his brother is going to elope. It comes out that Arthur remembers a lot of personal details, even small ones, really well, and it makes Mikey feel odd. Jessie comes home and says she ran into one of Arthur’s coworkers. Arthur hangs up with Mikey. Jessie admits she lied and ran into Ben. Arthur is shocked. He contemplates Mikey, who he likes, who feels steady, but who does not excite him.
