Summary
In Chapter 21, “Samantha,” Moses arrives at Sam's house. Sam says Jamie has apparently given up on life and she is afraid. Moses notices Bitsy, who is asleep in Jamie's lap. While Moses says that Sam does not need additional problems to deal with, he points out that the situation may force Jamie to stop focuses solely on himself in order to help Bitsy and Faith. They briefly discuss the possibility of putting Jamie in a lock-down facility where professionals would keep suicide watch, but Sam does not want to take that step unless she has to. When Faith returns, she and Sam talk about their situation. Faith suggests going to Jackie's but Sam reveals that Jackie is also having problems. Faith brings up the money she took from the market, but Sam says they will “figure something out” (195).
