Morgan Dane
Morgan Dane is one of the main characters in this novel. She is a defense attorney and former prosecutor. Along with adjusting to working on the other side of the law, Morgan also is adjusting to life as a single mother. Her husband died in the Iraq War two years ago, and Morgan struggles to juggle her three children, care of her grandfather, and her new job with a budding relationship with Lance, her partner at Sharp Investigations.
Although Morgan is a female, she does not let the expectations for her gender rule her life. She is capable of taking care of herself, even in a fight with a man bigger than she is, an ability she demonstrates when Tyler Green tries to choke Morgan when she serves him with legal papers.
