Summary
When looking for her new apartment, Christa warned Cara not to move to Holyoke. Most grad students lived in Amherst or Northampton. But the rent was cheap and her apartment was large. There was even a sitting area on the porch in the back. They continued the Kindred photography project. Christa took shots of them together in Cara’s bathtub. Cara was a natural before the camera. Christa told her to do what she wanted to do. Cara, as promised, wrote the text that went with the photos.
Christa always felt safe at her mother’s house in Albany. She had fled there from the city streets after 9/11. She felt guilty for leaving her husband and grad school behind but she didn’t want to live in a constant state of worry and panic. She drove into the city on weekends...
