Summary
In Chapter 33, “Tanaka and Somerset,” the narrative changes to Kaori’s perspective. The girls acknowledge that they heard a sound that sounded like someone needed help. Kaori thinks that it is Virgil, but then they find Chet. Kaori and Gen do not know him, but realize that Valencia does. Chet’s demeanor changes when he sees Valencia. He tells her what happened. She looks at the wound, tells him that the way he is caring for it will cause more problems than the bite itself, and the snake was not poisonous as he is not showing any of the signs of being poisoned. As Valencia and Chet talk, Kaori comes up with the idea of partnering with Valencia due to the type of knowledge she has.
