List
Clare's list is symbolic of control. Clare creates the list as a way to say goodbye to both her hometown and to Aidan. At the same time, the list is Clare's attempt to seize authority over events and emotions that she fears. The more that Clare and Aidan stray from the list, therefore, the more Clare has to loosen her control over her future.
Rocks
