Part Three: December 21, 1970: Chapters 7 - 11 Summary
The two cars contain Deutsch's representative in the first, and Lionel, Edith, Tanner and Fischer in the second. Even Florence is nervous about Edith's participation, and explains to Edith how Hell House's owner, Emeric Belasco had created a private hell there. He is supposed to be one of the entities that haunt the house. Deutsch's representative explains that their meals will be delivered, and says goodbye. Fischer drives the rest of the way to the house through fog. It is cold and there is an unpleasant smell in the air. They park and walk across a concrete bridge that spans Bastard Bog. Florence's first impression of the house is that it is hideous. The windows have been bricked up, and when they enter the house they find that the lights do not work. The smell...
