Chapters 1-5 Summary
The story opens with the main character, Kat Bishop, thinking about the Ivy League school she attends.
"No one knew for certain when the trouble started at the Colgan School." (Chap. 1, pg. 1)
Colgan School used to be an all male school. The changes in the school are blamed on allowing females to enroll.
"Others cited newfangled liberal ideals and a general decline in the respect for elders worldwide. But no matter the theory, no one could deny that, recently, life at the Colgan School was different." (Chap. 1, pg. 1)
The Colgan School had a long waiting list and no one changed their minds about attending the prestigious institution. However, that is exactly what happens, allowing Kat to enroll at the last possible minute. Kat's backstory is perfectly executed. She is the daughter of a European businessman. Unfortunately, all of Kat's school records...
