Chapter 2 Summary
A few days later, Annie mentions that a white Corvette with two men in it is parked down the street. Dave approaches the car but it drives away. Dave decides to investigate further, even though Annie requests that he take no further interest in the situation. Following the lead of the swizzle stick recovered from the dead man's shirt, Dave proceeds to a bar in downtown New Orleans and speaks with Jerry Falgout, the barkeep. Jerry slowly recognizes Dave who had arrested him years earlier as a policeman. Dave then waits around until Robin Gaddis, a stripper for the bar, arrives in the evening. Robin is intoxicated and presented as an attractive alcoholic, a drug addict, a stripper, and a prostitute.
