Summary
Part Three opens with Greg and Darren choosing to go for food in downtown Jefferson, somewhere that Darren "...could get a real drink in peace" (115). Greg continued on pressing his point that Leroy was most likely to have killed Levi and he told Darren that the hate crimes against Leroy and the Native Americans started after Leroy decided to sell the land. The plan was to sell it to a developer named Sandler Gaines. When Darren ordered another bourbon, Greg said "Thought you quit," then mentioning that he had spoken to Lisa (119). The narrator revealed that in fact the three of them had all gone to the same high school, and once upon a time "the triangle of their friendship was equal on all three sides" (119). Darren felt jealously at the idea of his wife and best friend talking without him...
