Summary

In Chapter 6, Eyes notices a flower in the school yard one day. He is captivated by it but feels it “was just another marvel from a world that would never accept me” (1453). The pain in his nose seems like the only thing that is truly his own. In mid-October, Kojima leaves a note, asking to meet. Eyes has detected a change in her handwriting, which was “fragile” at first. It has now become “larger and thicker.” He can tell she is pressing hard on the paper. He leaves her a note saying he is too busy and does not respond to the next note. Eyes does not sleep well and is lethargic at school. He stops reading and barely talks. He does not return to the doctor though his mother tries to frighten him by saying his nose will rot and tear off...
