Summary
In Chapter 25, before Nate left for Thanksgiving break, he warned Pete that Pete was liable to fail out of school because of the cards.
In Chapter 26, Carol was already gone when Pete arrived at her dorm to pick her up. She left a letter asking him to allow her to be the one to get in touch with him.
In Chapter 27, at home, Pete broke up with his girlfriend. He felt ashamed of himself, but also felt relieved. Pete’s father told Pete he had done well to break up with the girl. He thought Pete could do better.
In Chapter 28, Pete spent time studying and believed he had a chance of catching up if he could stay away from the cards. He decided to try to pair up with Skip, believing they could motivate each other to succeed.
