Good versus Evil

The primary plot throughout the entire novel is that of good versus evil. While it is presented in a light-hearted manner, Susannah struggles with the state of mind of the ghosts and people with whom she deals in the novel. For example, the ghost of a dead ex-girlfriend seems to be more on the evil side when she tries using a statue head as a bowling ball and Susannah as a pin.

Susannah struggles with whether or not Red Beaumont is good or evil. When he confirms Susannah's suspicions about being a vampire, this solidifies evilness for Susannah. Later, when she finds out that Red has mental problems, she no longer thinks he's evil but simply needs some help.

Finally, Susannah struggles with good and evil once again when she interacts with Marcus Beaumont. When she first meets Marcus, he seems like he is saving her...
