Chapter 23 Summary

Susannah is in her room when Jesse and Spike appear in the window. Susannah asks Jesse what he did with Marcus. Jesse says that Mrs. Fiske and some of the ghosts of the other people he killed are torturing Marcus until the day he dies. Susannah goes into Doc's room. She tells him that his mother appears to her and tells her that he can't blame himself for pulling her tubes. While Doc is hugging and thanking her, his mother appears to Susannah and thanks her as well. When Susannah returns to her room, Jesse mentions that he came because she called him. Mrs. Fiske said the same thing to her when she was at Cee Cee's aunt's house. Tad calls to tell Susannah the doctors found a drug in his dad's system they think Marcus was giving him to hallucinate.
