Part 3, Delivery, Fall 1993, Chapter 40, Paige Summary

Max is still not right when Nicholas picks him up that night, but no one is concerned except for Paige. Paige tries to draw, but she cannot get the picture to come out the way she wants. Finally, she falls asleep, but she wakes in the middle of the night convinced that Max needs her. Paige dresses and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, Nicholas is standing there. Max is sick.

Part 3, Delivery, Fall 1993, Chapter 40, Paige Analysis

Paige is convinced that Max is sick, and she is proven right when Nicholas comes to the house to get her. It is interesting that Nicholas has come for her. This chapter also foreshadows the next one in which the reader learns what has caused Max's illness.
