Late in her senior year of high school, Paige became ill with the flu. Paige was down with the flu for five days before she finally realized it was not the flu. She was pregnant. Paige went to school as if she was all better, but neither she nor her father could believe it. When Paige told Jake, he offered to marry her, but Paige did not want to marry because of being, thinking it would be an unfair burden for that child. Besides, Paige was not ready to be a mother. Paige decided she wanted an abortion and Jake agreed.
