Jake and Paige's relationship began on a friendship basis despite that first kiss. Paige hangs out with Jake so much that he starts to become irritated by her presence. Jake does not want Paige around at first, but slowly comes to enjoy her constant presence. Jake would tell Paige about his dates, discussing them with her as if she were one of the guys, a fact that both makes Paige happy and frustrates her because Paige is in love with Jake. Jake works at his father's garage and Paige spends hours watching him, learning more than she ever wants to know about cars.
