Chapters 21 through 26 Summary
Katzka and Abbey wait for the cover of darkness, then go onto the pier to get a closer look at the ship docked there. Before they reach the ship, headlights catch them in a glare and Katzka and the driver of the van have a shootout. Abbey is forced to dive in the water and the van crashes into the water right behind her. Katzka dives in behind her and they swim away, trying to avoid the searchlights sweeping the water and the bullets. They manage to swim to the relative safety of the next pier down but the men are still chasing them. They have to hide in a series of crates for a long time until their pursuers finally give up. Abbey notes that the men don't speak English.
