Summary

Jay and Yuki shop for supplies for Celeste. Jay makes his mother soup, cleans her apartment, and buys her some scarves. They see a handbag designed by Odile in a shop. Yuki tells Jay that she left him a note when she left, and that she and Edison were in touch throughout his childhood. She tells him about the bento box her mother left with her, and suggests he buy some mice for Celeste, as a similar gesture. They give her the mice and laugh together. Jay suggests she come live in the house in Connecticut, she declines again.

In Chapter 21, Yuki sees Jay off on his trip home, and encourages him to tell Mimi about his infidelity. He asks her if she is happy, and she says “I did what I could with what I had” (301). Jay decides...
