Summary
Jay reflects on his relationship with Mimi up to now, which was overwhelmingly healthy until her pregnancy, when he began finding her unattractive. He then recalls the fainting spells he experienced during high school, which caused him to get Celeste as a therapy cat.
In Chapter 4, he contemplates how odd it is that his father left the house to his estranged wife, and recalls, again, how disgusted he was during Mimi's pregnancy. He does not feel that way about her now, he wants her, and they make love. In Chapter 5, Jay wakes to the baby crying and checks his phone. He has an email from Annika, one of the artists he manages, stating that she is ending their professional relationship, and taking her work to Jay's rival and former boss, Quentin Taupe. Jay is angry.
