Summary
Yuki reads an article about Vietnam in a newspaper called The Paper and thinks about the boy from the bar that tried to touch her inappropriately. She has been spending all of her time with Odile, only showing up at school for art class. They take a photograph together on the roof of Odile's brownstone, meant to be a memento for when Yuki goes back to Japan, but then they decide to ask Odile's mother Lillian if Yuki can move in with the Graychilds instead. (Yuki's father was born in America, and long ago secured citizenship for his family.) Yuki brings the idea up with her parents, and the two families discuss the matter over dinner at a fancy French restaurant. Yuki is permitted to stay.
