Jennifer
Jennifer is twenty-three years old and at least half crazy. She wants to be a writer like her father and loves writing but has yet to have anything published. Like most of Anne Lamott's heroines, she is a thinly disguised version of Lamott herself. Jen is embarrassed and self-conscious about her yellow Afro, her pimples, and her big butt, but she only sees beauty in others when they are scarred, showing that they have survived something. Unlike most respectable people, Jen does not pretend to be normal and sane but just goes ahead and acts the way she feels like acting.
