Summary
In Chapter 19, Tomás recalls talking to his mother and trying to confess the truth about his involvement with the Montoneros and the interrogation center. However, he was unable to bring himself to tell her. He had visited in La Plata, his original hometown. He then decided that he should return to Buenos Aires to figure out a way he might protect Isabel. In Chapter 20, Tomás recalls returning to the building where Isabel and Gustavo were still residing in hiding. He eavesdropped on their conversation. Gustavo and Isabel talked about their relationship and their involvement with the Montoneros. Gustavo wanted to flee Argentina and go to Cuba, but Isabel was adamant about remaining in Argentina and fighting to the death if necessary. Tomás left when Gustavo and Isabel began having sex.
