Summary
In Chapter 62, at the Italian restaurant, Mr. and Mrs. Peterson dance. Gwendy is impressed when his father “dips” (167) his wife at the conclusion of the song. They are all too full for dessert, but Mrs. Peterson tells Gwendy she wants another one of her chocolates when they are home.
In Chapter 63, Gwendy had agonized about giving her mother some of the chocolate from the button box. Gwendy knew that even though they did improve a person’s health, that they also dispensed some magic. She was worried about what impact sharing the chocolate might have on both her and her mother. When the doctor announced all evidence of her mother’s tumor was gone, Gwendy felt at ease with her decision.
