Summary

In Chapter 45, when Gwendy arrives home the night of the party, she leaves the button box in the safe.

In Chapter 46, on Christmas morning Gwendy’s parents present her with a card that holds Gwendy’s magic feather. Gwendy had lost the feather, but they located it in the garage in one of Mr. Peterson’s storage drawers. They assumed she had hidden it there more than 30 years prior.

Chapter 47 describes how Gwendy bought the magic feather from an older cousin when she was ten. He claimed it belonged to an Indian who was a medicine man.

In Chapter 48, Gwendy thinks about how her father told her they had made fun of her for spending the money on the feather. It had not mattered to Gwendy because she believed it was magic. He credits her success with the fact she has always been...
