Summary
In Chapter 14, Gwendy receives a staticky phone call from Ryan, a photojournalist, who is on the island of Timor covering the governmental unrest.
In Chapter 15, Gwendy does not tell Ryan about the button box, she wants to keep the box to herself.
In Chapter 16, when Gwendy leaves her townhouse for the office the following morning, she hides the box because she is afraid someone will steal it.
In Chapter 17, the security guard gives Gwendy a copy of the novel Gravity’s Rainbow as a Christmas gift. Ironically, it is the book Richard Farris was reading when Gwendy first met him and was given the button box.
