Summary

In Chapter 14, voices wake Gwendy from a nap. She cannot understand what they are saying. When she opens her door, Adesh and Winston are there. They tell her it sounded as if she was having a nightmare.

In Chapter 15, set in 2019, Farris told Gwendy that angry people would be coming for the button box. When he explained why needed to be done, Gwendy said what he wanted was impossible. Before he left, he asked her to promise she would do the best she could to make it happen.

In Chapter 16, in the present, as Adesh and Winston talk to Gwendy, she senses a voice telling her that Winston is smarter than he appears. When Adesh and Gwendy are alone, Adesh admits to Gwendy that he caught Winston fiddling with the latch on Gwendy’s door.
