Summary

This section starts with Raina coming back to school after a therapist session. When she walks in Jane asks her why she is always late for school and Raina at first thinks about answering but then thinks Jane will judge her and ask if she is crazy, so Raina just says she cannot tell her. Meanwhile, other girls in the class start to raise their hands in alarm. At recess, Raina notes that, “Something was going on with the girls in my class” (114). She asks her friend Dina why she does not go home if she feels sick and Dina rolls her eyes and says “You’re not mature enough to understand” (115). Dina wails as the bell rings and dramatically worries about making it through the day, while red pain stars surround her middle.
