Summary
During his trek out to the Sundarbans, Deen learns of various initiatives undertaken by the trust. It is Moyna, a single mother whose husband was killed working for Piya and the trust, who explains this to him.
In consequence of her guilt, Piya took a particular closeness to Moyna and her son, Tipu. She bought them a house and gifted Tipu with a plethora of laptops and other electronics. All of this only served to alienate him from those his age in Lusibari, so she ended up bringing him to live in America with her. There, Tipu fell in with the wrong crowd and ended up having to be sent back to India.
Moyna does not expect Tipu to be waiting for them at the boat that is to take Deen to the Sundarbans, but he is waiting on the embankment when they...
