Chapters 8-16 Summary
Jean-Claude takes Anita to meet his master, Nikolaos, who is Master of the City and the most powerful vampire Anita has ever met. Along the way, Anita must act as a Jean-Claude's lover in order to fool patrolling police. Anita resists as Jean-Claude embraces her on the street and immediately feels a shock of excitement and undeniable chemistry. The initial connection between Anita and Jean-Claude is made and proves to be an almost irresistible attraction. This exhilarates and frightens both Anita and Jean-Claude.
Anita and Jean-Claude enter into an unnamed hotel and wend their way to a room where Aubrey and a woman wait. The woman is classic vamp and tells Anita that she is Nikolaos, Master of the City.
