Che Guevara
Ernesto "Che" Guevara was an Argentine medical student who, after traveling through Latin America and seeing the poverty and oppression everywhere around him, became a communist revolutionary. In Mexico, he met Fidel and Raul Castro whom he joined in an attempt to overthrow the Cuban government led by Batista. Che was Fidel Castro's chief lieutenant and was in charge of the guerilla operations during the Cuban revolution. After Che and his forces successfully defeated Batista and his American supported regime, Che became the head of the department of agriculture, leading vast agricultural and land reforms in Cuba. Che also took over the economy in general and instituted several reforms intending to move away from capitalist modes of production.
