Summary
Chapters 1 and 2
Guantanamo Boy is a fictional account of a fifteen year old young man named Khalid who lives with his family in Manchester, England. His interests include hanging out with his mates, playing football, and playing a myriad of games on line with his cousin, Tariq and others. His parents are not rigid Muslims, but respect and discipline is expected. It is just before Easter vacation when Khalid learns of his grandmothers' death and the intention his parents have of taking their family to visit relatives in Pakistan during the upcoming break.
Khalid had come home from school to find a letter to his parents. He is disappointed that the science teacher, Mr. Hanwood, had actually followed through with his threat to write to his parents about his recent behavior in class. He puts the letter in his pocket, trying to behave...
