Racism
Racism is explored throughout the book through multiple points of view, such as colorism, sexual abuse, and justice. The author, Tiffany D. Jackson, examines racism throughout the entertainment industry and the ways in which younger Black girls are targeted for abuse and overlooked by authorities. She does also draw upon current events in allusions to the sexual abuse allegations about famous R&B singer, R. Kelly.
Racism is deeply rooted in all systems of the United States. The structural racism disadvantages Black people at every stage of their lives.
