Point of View
The novel is narrated in the third-person, always from the perspective of Enchanted Jones, a young Black girl from New York who lives with her parents and younger siblings. She dreams of becoming a famous singer and finds herself wrapped up in superstar Korey Field’s web after he scouts her at an audition. She spends months subjected to his growing physical and sexual abuse after going on tour with him. When she finally breaks free, she is again embroiled in troubled when Korey is murdered, and she tries to solve the crime while healing from his abuse.
