Summary
Brandon and Richard stumble their way toward a street exit. Despite the hanging smoke and the partial darkness, Brandon recognizes where he is as he inches his way along past the shops he remembers. He sees in the debris a stuffed animal of the Tasmanian Devil from the Warner Brothers Store. Sensing it might be his good luck charm, he picks it up and stuffs it in his pocket. When they finally emerge onto the street, Brandon struggles through a heavy gray dust that is falling everywhere. When he looks up, however, he is stunned to see the South Tower is gone. The North Tower, where his father waits rescue, is still standing.
