Summary
Hadley’s plot resumes with her at a table read for Peregrine. As the reading proceeds, Hadley thinks she is “always just reacting, always just getting buffeted along, never setting a destination” (306). Soon after, Hadley returns to Redwood’s home for a dinner party where she encounters Carol, the Day Brothers (who are involved with the movie) and a young woman named Leanne, whom Hadley assumes to be Redwood’s girlfriend. This distresses her. The dinner is uneventful except for a brief encounter Hadley has with an enigmatic artist named Adelaide Scott. Adelaide tells Hadley to call her for more information about Marian, which she seems reluctant to share with others. Hadley also attends a convention in these chapters due to Archangel obligations. She talks with her ex, Oliver, and the two accept the end of their relationship...
